The Groundwork Sessions for Healing

Do you feel like you’ve tried everything, yet still aren’t where you want to be with your health?

Many patients who come to Suma Medicine arrive feeling unheard, dismissed, or stuck. Their symptoms are complex, layered, and don’t fit into a conventional model of care.

The truth is—most systems are designed to manage symptoms, not understand why they’re happening.

The Groundwork Sessions for Healing are designed to give you something different: time, depth, and a clear path forward.

This is where we slow down, listen carefully, and begin to understand your health story as a whole—so we can build a personalized plan that is both strategic and sustainable.

A Different Starting Point – Together, we will:

Uncover the root contributors to your symptoms

Review what has (and hasn’t) worked in the past

Explore key areas such as nutrition, sleep, environmental exposures, and immune health

Begin mapping a clear, step-by-step path toward healing

What This Process Looks Like

This is not a single visit—it’s a guided, multi-step experience designed to create clarity and momentum.

Before Your Visit

Your history is reviewed in depth, including prior labs, medical records, and detailed intake forms.

Initial Groundwork Session with Dr. Davis (90 minutes)

In this session, we will meet one-on-one to review your case, discuss key findings, and begin shaping your personalized plan.

Between Visits

Targeted lab work and diagnostic testing may begin during this phase to deepen our understanding and help guide your care.

You’ll have dedicated health coaching support sessions to help you implement early steps and build momentum.

Follow-Up Session with Dr. Davis  (90 minutes)

During this session, we will review your lab results and initial progress, refine your plan, and ensure your next steps are clear, prioritized, and manageable.

Do you take insurance?

Our functional medicine clinic does not bill insurance. You may pay by check, credit card, or HSA debit card. Upon request, we can provide you with a copy of the superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement for out-of-network care. The superbill is a detailed medical receipt that contains procedure codes, diagnosis codes, and the fees charged for your office visit. We cannot guarantee what reimbursement, if any, you may receive. We do not submit claims or call insurance companies directly. This is the responsibility of the patient.

We do not participate with Medicare, nor do we bill Medicare for any services rendered. A patient can NOT submit superbills to Medicare for possible reimbursement. Even though Dr. Davis has opted-out of Medicare, she has the ability to order labs and other testing through Medicare, if applicable.
